Goldfish outgrew the 20 gallon, what now

Won two goldfish at a fair 2 years ago. Theyre now about 5 inches each and the 20 gallon gets gross fast even with weekly changes. I don't really have room for a huge tank. Is a 40 enough for two or do I need to be looking at a pond or rehoming them?

If theyre fancies a 40 would be ok for two. If theyre commons or comets they really need a pond eventually, those get huge.

Look at a stock tank from a farm supply store. 50 to 100 gallons for way less than glass, and you can keep it in a garage or basement.

Pretty sure theyre comets, long single tail. Might ask my dad about putting a small pond in his backyard.
