Cherry shrimp dying a day after water changes

I have a 10 gallon with about 30 cherry shrimp. Every time I do a water change I find 2 or 3 dead ones the next morning. I do 30% weekly with tap and dechlorinator, temp matched as best I can. Tank has been running 6 months, lots of moss, never had problems until about a month ago. Anyone know whats going on?

30% might be too big a swing for them. Shrimp hate sudden changes in hardness more than anything. I do 10-15% and drip the new water in with airline tubing over about an hour.

Check if your city changed anything. Mine switched to chloramine a while back. Also test GH and TDS of your tap vs the tank, bet theyre pretty different.

Just tested. Tank GH is 8, tap came out at 4. So I've basically been dropping it every week and then it creeps back up??

Yeah thats probably it. Evaporation concentrates everything, then you dump a bunch of soft water in. Top off between changes so it doesnt build up, and keep the changes smaller.

Update: switched to 10% changes dripped in. No deaths for 3 weeks now and I spotted two berried females. Thanks everyone
